PURSUE YOUR DREAMS

I think it’s important to pursue our dreams whether we are young or old, and not be put off by the negativity of others or their lack of support. I mentioned in a previous post that many years ago I had travelled with a friend by train in Europe for a month using an Interrail pass.

While on our travels we met many people from different countries, but I remember a man that we met in Venice Italy, he was travelling by himself through Europe, with his back pack. He was from the USA and had just retired. It was his dream to visit Europe and though he and his wife had planned to go together, in the end she changed her mind. Though he was disappointed that she would not be going with him, it was his dream and he was not deterred, he went and had a fabulous time seeing the many places and countries he had wanted to visit for many years.

Visiting Venice was something I had hoped to do one day and here I was!!
I remember how impressed I was to see Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) and look at the beautiful architecture of St Mark’s Basilica. As I stood on one of the bridges in Venice to watch the gondolas on the water it was a dream come true for me too.

Meeting that man inspired me. I made a decision then that I wanted to live my life by pursuing my dreams, to have the courage to achieve my dreams even when I’m retired! I would encourage you to do the same. Life is a blessing, let us not waste opportunities, let us make plans and take the action required to pursue our dreams and enjoy each day.

Any time we need courage let us remind ourselves of these words, “Be strong, courageous and firm, fear not nor be in terror… For it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6.
Be encouraged
