While I was away for a spa weekend in Surrey I was confronted with how temperamental the weather can be. I was outside on a lounger enjoying the sunshine, when a sharp breeze blew, followed by the warmth of the sun, which then disappeared behind a cloud, the clouds turned dark threatening to rain!! The British weather is so unpredictable!

I am a sun lover. I love when the sun is shining and the climate is warm, it makes me feel brighter, the sunshine lifts my spirits. In a similar way I believe that God’s love shines on us like the rays of the sun. We are loved by God and He provides us with life and many things we need from day to day whether we are good or bad.
“For He makes His sun shine on good and bad people alike, and He sends rain to the righteous and the unrighteous alike.” Matthew 5:44-46 CJB

Like a loving Father who cares for His children He provided a good example of how to live in this world through the life of Jesus. Jesus left us a good example for us to follow. Jesus was not unpredictable like the weather. He was consistently loving, caring and was good to everyone. He was like a ray of sunshine.
He said “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.” John 14:7, so by reading the New Testament Gospels in particular, and the Bible in general we can really get to know Jesus and our Father.

Jesus’ way of living each day included connecting with His Father.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35
Are we following his example? If he prayed we should too, because in these times we need all the help we can get!

Today we spend so much time connecting with people through phones, computers and social media. However let us also spend time connecting with our Father God. Anytime you see the sunshine or the rain remember that God loves you and He’s always there, waiting for you to talk to Him and He’s never too busy to listen.
